Looks like we’ve almost reached the end of the Internet. At least as far as access growth is concerned. A report released earlier today found that a total of 553 million people worldwide now have Internet access from home, marking a relatively flat 4% growth rate as compared to the previous quarter.

It could be that people are thinking, “The summer is almost over and I’ve missed it,” or it could be that Spirit Airlines offered free tickets for flights on 9/11/02 (which were snatched up in about 8 minutes), but at-work traffic to the airline category jumped 15% during the week ending August 4.

Two interesting things to report today. First, 24/7 Real Media seems to have stolen another one of DoubleClick’s clients. Second, TiVo said that a recent video Showcase promoting the blockbuster comedy "Austin Powers In Goldmember" received the highest viewership yet of any advertainment offering yet.

Nielsen//NetRatings’ AdRelevance has found that automotive manufacturers have raced to the top in adopting online rich media advertising technologies. According to the latest data, rich media comprised 37.4% of all auto online ad impressions in Q2 2002, nearly 10 times more than the industry average of 3.9%.
