Netflix is partnering with Korean manufacturer LG Electronics to stream movies and other programming to LG's high-definition televisions. Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, says he hopes to strike other such deals and that Netflix would soon be viewed as a movie channel that might appear on myriad devices. As Dell broadens from just selling its wares directly over the Internet and by phone, it risks siphoning off its base of Web customers. So it is carefully choosing which retailers to link up with and then cherry-picking which products to sell in each store. The name on the outside of the building is now just a small part of the deal, with companies receiving luxury suites, networking opportunities, access to players and product placement. Ford has entered into "focused negotiations at a more detailed level" with India's Tata Motors, meaning Tata has become the preferred bidder for its Jaguar and Land Rover units. "We will proceed with further substantive discussions with Tata Motors over the forthcoming weeks," says Lewis Booth, executive vice president of Ford's European units, in a statement.
