Ford plans to focus most of its marketing efforts for the all-new 2009 F-150 on customers who buy a truck for work instead of pleasure or everyday driving -- a big shift from the past when Ford was focused on selling Harley-Davidson and King Ranch SuperCrew trucks as luxurious substitutes for cars. Ford will launch the truck with the two-door models that always have been more popular among contractors, farmers and fleet customers. Hilton Hotels -- with nine brands ranging from the opulent Waldorf-Astoria Collection to the thriftier Hampton Inn -- wants to build up its presence in Asia by adding 300 hotels to the 47 it already operates in the region over the next decade. Hilton is focusing initially on India, where it has a joint venture with local property firm DLF Ltd. that aims to open 75 hotels within the next five years, says CEO and president Chris Nassetta. Tyson scored a coup when it became the first marketer to receive approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to tout in advertising and on packaging that its birds were "raised without antibiotics." Court documents indicate that its sales jumped 35 million pounds as a result of the campaign. The hitch is that while Tyson's chickens did not receive any antibiotics commonly given to humans, they did receive ionophores, which are antibiotics that are used in veterinary medicine. A British television advertisement for Heinz Deli Mayo that aired last week depicts two children, a father and a male deli cook with a New York accent, whom the children addressed as "Mum." At the end of the ad, the cook kisses the father as he leaves for work. Britain's Advertising Standards Authority says 202 people complained about the ad. When Nokia announced Tuesday that it plans to fully acquire Symbian, the leading maker of operating system software for advanced mobile phones, it signaled that that it does not intend to cede its ground in mobile-phone software to gate crashers like Apple, Microsoft or Google.
