Kohl's is America's favorite mid-size department store, according to a poll from Harris Interactive. The discount chain edged out JCPenney in the first of a new Harris series intended to measure the strength of a brand's relationship with its customers by receiving a total service score of 5.7.

Coca-Cola's Simply Orange and Minute Maid, along with PepsiCo Inc.'s Tropicana, are the major U.S. brands currently made in part with Brazilian orange juice. In Brazil, the use of the unapproved fungicide carbendazim is widespread. CocaCola reported finding it in orange juice sold by itself and competitors in the U.S.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has signed a deal with the U.S. Army to form an on-going marketing and student-athlete incentive program. The first activation will be the U.S. Army-Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence Program. The program will be open to all sophomore and junior level high school athletes in the U.S. Athletes must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and also be active members in their communities to qualify.

Taco Bell has closed 1,000 stores since 2000, while Yum Brands' KFC and Pizza Hut have expanded globally. Now, Taco Bell wants to go up against Chipotle and Qdoba. The chain is working with Miami chef Lorena Garcia to fight Chipotle Mexican Grill with black beans, cilantro rice and corn salsa.

Parents of children who have peanut allergies are concerned, to say the least, about General Mills' new Multi Grain Peanut Butter Cheerios. "People are very upset about it," said Gina Clowes, founder of Allergy Moms, a national support group. "I know some allergy families that currently buy Cheerios are vowing not to buy them at all for fear of cross contact while processing and to avoid confusion in their own homes."

Kroger will open a branded robotic convenience store on the campus of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. The 10-by-13-foot kiosk dispenses up to 200 items including refrigerated foods, snacks and other convenience items such as soaps and detergents, and accepts cash, credit cards and debit cards, according to Matt Reckner, VP of operations for Shop24 Global, the Columbus, Ohio-based manufacturer of the machine.
