Tim Mahoney is going where? Well, marketers in the auto business move around more than seats on a Tilt-a-Whirl. But General Motors has had a lot to do with that in recent years, bringing in marketers from Hyundai, Toyota and beyond. Mahoney, most recently at Volkswagen and Subaru before that, will become Chief Marketing Officer Global Chevrolet and Global GM Marketing Operations Leader, effective April 1. As VW of America's executive vice president and chief product and marketing officer, Mahoney lit a fire under the U.S marketing for the German brand.

Coca-Cola has increased its stake in Innocent Drinks to almost 100%, prompting the smoothie makers' founders to step down from the day to day running of the business by selling the majority of their remaining shares to the soft drinks giant. Innocent co-founders Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright will retain a minority equity holding and sit on an executive committee, which will continue to support the business as it enters the next phase of expansion.

Marketing a Broadway show used to mean advertising and a press agent. But Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" opening on Broadway for the first time on March 3 was different, and has generated a lot of interest. For the week ended Feb. 17, "Cinderella" previews were essentially sold out and generated $1.1 million in ticket sales. "Cinderella is a beloved brand," said Robyn Goodman, who is producer, and who has won best-producer Tony Awards. "I understood what an advantage that was." Marketing has included deals with Stuart Weitzman, the New York Palace hotel and Brooks Brothers.

Barnes & Noble executives want to shift from making branded hardware to licensing content to other manufacturers. A source said the company will emphasize this new strategy in its Q3 2013 fiscal report next week, committing to building deeper relationships with device makers like Samsung and Microsoft.

Ikea has big expansion plans, but its departing CEO says red tape is a headwind for those plans. CEO Mikael Ohlsson said the amount of time it takes to open a store has roughly doubled in recent years. "What some years ago took two to three years, now takes four to six years." The company plans to grow rapidly on several continents through 2020, spending up to EUR15 billion ($20 billion) starting next year.
