• Macy's Gen Y Strategy
    Macy's is reaching out to a young consumer from pre-teen up to 30 year olds. Its Millennial merchandise helped beat Wall Street expectations, said executives. Many of the new lines are still available only at a quarter of Macy's stores, but strong early sales are prompting the Cincinnati-based retailer to roll them out to more locations starting next year.
  • McDonald's Tests Pick-Yer-Own Toppings
    McDonald's is running a beta where people can create a custom burger with an iPad. The company is testing the program in Laguna Niguel, Calif., and in Illinois. Diners can choose from 20 toppings and sauces like sharp white cheddar cheese, guacamole, caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms, applewood smoked bacon and creamy garlic sauce. The patty is the same one used on the Quarter Pounder, but it is "chargrilled-to-order," McDonald's said.
  • Shortage: Butterball Running Low On Fresh Birds
    The nation's largest turkey producer said its turkeys have a weight problem: not enough. Butterball said its poultry had trouble gaining weight on some of its farms, though still has ample supplies of frozen large varieties, which are birds 16 pounds and heavier. A spokesperson said the company doesn't know what's going on but, "we are working to remedy the issue."

    The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games has added 21st Century Fox as a founding partner and the official media sponsor of the Games, bringing to the event in New Jersey next year coverage that will include Fox News, Fox Sports, Fox Sports, the National Geographic Channel and a bevy of local networks, which will all have a focus on the 3,500 athletes and 1,000 coaches who will be part of the 16 team and individual sports.

  • Ford Fusion Energi Electric Plugs Into Coca-Cola
    No, the Ford Fusion Energi will not run on Coca-Cola. Rather, Ford and Coca-Cola have teamed up to create a Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid vehicle with Coke's PlantBottle Technology interior fabric. Ford was able to use it to create the first-ever automotive fabrics that are 30% plant material. It covers cushions, seat backs, head restraints, door panel inserts and headliners.

    Online storage service Dropbox already has 200 million users who save more than 1 billion files on the service every day. Now the company wants to build out its B-B business. The company unveiled the initiative at its San Francisco headquarters Wednesday. The move puts Dropbox in direct competition with companies like Google and Box. The company says new product is meant to help manage business and personal information.     Some U.S. chefs are getting inspiration for "local flavor" from Copenhagen, Denmark and a "rustic-yet-refined" aesthetic that defines New Nordic cuisine. Copenhagen restaurant Noma is where the trend started. The co-owner, Claus Meyer, worked with other Scandinavian chefs in 2004 to promote a "Manifesto of the New Nordic Kitchen." That document advocates seasonal cooking with a focus on products that thrive in the Nordic countries.
  • Google Taps P&G Exec For Brand Advertising Strategy
    Google has hired senior P&G exec Kirk Perry to woo advertisers to its properties. Perry, who was president of family care at P&G, was named president, brand solutions at Google, a new role reporting to Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora. Mr. Perry becomes one of few direct reports to Mr. Arora's business group, which includes the heads of the Americas, Asia and Northern Europe. With the hire, Google is redoubling its efforts to pry brand advertising dollars from TV.
