• Kenmore Brand Goes The Way Of Sears: Downward
    Kenmore was once one of the top appliance brands in the country, only available at Sears stores. The appliance company "had such brand cachet that appliance makers would design some of their best products using the Kenmore name instead of their own," according to CNN Money. Now, "Sears and Kenmore have become an afterthought for appliance manufacturers." And "Sears CEO and primary shareholder Eddie Lampert is offering to have his hedge fund buy Kenmore for just $400 million. The independent members of the Sears board are weighing that offer."
  • Mayo, Fla. Renames Itself Miracle Whip
    The tiny town of Mayo, Fla. doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is why it temporarily has changed its name to Miracle Whip. The name change started as a secret, tongue-in-cheek marketing proposal for the Kraft Heinz-owned mayonnaise-alternative, according to the Associated Press. Videographers for Miracle Whip wanted to capture the shock of residents when they hear that the name of their town is being changed to a corporate brand.
  • 'Madden 19' Video Game Qualifiers Canceled After Shooting
    Electronic Arts, the video game company that publishes the Madden NFL football games, cancelled the remainder of the Madden Classic qualifying events after a gunman killed two players at an event in Jacksonville, Florida. earlier in the week.  The video game competition Sunday in Jacksonville was one of four qualifying events for the Madden Classic finals, scheduled for Oct. 11-13 in Las Vegas.
