    Uber has added a panic alarm to its app so that riders have a quick way to contact 911 if they are attacked by the driver. A number of Uber drivers have faced accusations of sex crimes for years. “While no one should ever have to call 911 when using Uber, no form of transportation is 100% free of incidents,” CEO Dana Khosrowshahi said. “If ever faced with an emergency situation, we want to help you get the help you need.”
  • Twinkie Maker Saves Necco Wafers
    The company that once rescued the Twinkies brand is now taking over the maker of Necco Wafers. The family business of billionaire Dean Metropoulos announced Friday it paid $17.3 million for the New England Confectionery Co. It's a surprise ending to a federal bankruptcy auction that initially left Necco to an Ohio company. Metropoulos' firm previously bought Twinkies maker Hostess out of bankruptcy in 2013.
  • ASICS Jumps On 'Incredibles 2' Bandwagon
    Sports performance brand ASICS has joined a roster of more than a dozen brands tying in with the upcoming release of The Incredibles 2, with a multi-media effort focusing on health and intended “ to get families moving this summer.” The deal with Disney·Pixar includes TV, a line of limited-edition footwear and a series of exercise videos based on the superpowers of the Parr Family:  strength, stretch, stealth, balance and speed.

  • Ambien Maker Defends Itself After Roseanne Barr Tweet
    After Roseanne Barr blamed the sleep aid Ambien for a series of racist tweets that resulted in the cancellation of her show "Roseanne" by ABC, the drug maker responded with a tweet of its own: “People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.”
