• Starbucks' New CEO Is Relocating From London
    Starbucks has named Laxman Narasimhan as CEO, effective Oct. 1. Narasimhan, who is relocating to Seattle from London, will work closely with interim chief Howard Schultz before taking the reins and joining the board on April 1. He previously served as the CEO of Reckitt, a multinational consumer health, hygiene and nutrition company, and also held leadership roles at PepsiCo, including as global chief commercial officer, where he was responsible for the company’s long-term strategy and digital capabilities.  
  • Struggling Luxury Resale Site Still Attracts Bargain Hunters
    Shoppers who like getting luxury designer goods at a discount have become devotees of the RealReal website, despite some customer service mishaps and growing pains. “Once they went public, it very much became about what looks good for investors,” one former luxury manager told The Cut. The company signed leases on two huge ecommerce spaces in New Jersey and Arizona (in addition to the two it already had) and opened 13 more stores with 16 retail spaces in total. Then the pandemic happened, which resulted in employees feeling overworked and underpaid.
