Anheuser-Bush InBev changed the terms of its proposed $20.1 billion acquisition of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo Thursday in an attempt to push through a deal that federal regulators say will kill competition. AB InBev is willing to sell Modelo's Piedras Negras brewery and give perpetual rights for Corona and the Modelo brands in the U.S. to Constellation for $2.9 billion. The brewery makes Corona, Corona Light and Modelo Especial. It will give Constellation total control over the production of Corona and Modelo in the U.S.

Toys R Us Inc. said on Wednesday that Gerald Storch will step down as its CEO, just weeks after the world's largest dedicated toy retailer reported disappointing results for the holiday season. The company saw its U.S. sales fall during the holiday season.

Next month, Unilever's Dove Men+Care line will air an ad trying to prove that a man's face needs pampering. The effort coincides with the brand's first line of male facial-care products, including cleansers, shaving gels, post-shave balms and moisturizers, which are hitting U.S. stores now.

Porsche is considering five agencies for its North America creative account, per sources. Durham, N.C.-based McKinney, Droga5 in New York; the Miami office of Crispin Porter + Bogusky; Olson in Minneapolis; and the incumbent, Chicago-based Cramer-Krasselt are in the running. Porsche chose the finalists from a broader field of agencies that got RFPs. Media spending on the brand totaled nearly $15 million in 2011, according to Nielsen.

SAG-AFTRA and the advertising industry launched commercial contract talks on Valentine's Day under a cone of silence, but quietly, in contrast to the six-month strike that crippled the business 13 years ago. The current contract, which covers roughly $1 billion in annual earnings, expires on March 31 but the union has made no efforts to mobilize the members about the issues. During the SAG and AFTRA strike some years back the unions held hundreds of rallies and pickets, culminating in a boycott of Ivory Soap, Tide and Crest.

The augmented reality campaign uses geo-location tools to target smartphone users near 12 Apple and Samsung stores in the UK. People using the Aurasma AR app over store fronts will see a speech bubble appear on a green background, asking "Is my phone trashing tropical forests?" on their smartphone screen.

In New York City, hummus joints are scattering about like lettuce from a felafel. But the popularity of the spread made of chickpeas is growing, especially at retail. Last year, the refrigerated spreads category had double-digit unit growth, with volume sales up 10.4% over the 52 weeks ending Dec. 2, according to Chicago-based SymphonyIRI. This growth comes after a unit sales increase of 10.8% in the 52 weeks ending Jan. 1, 2012. From 2009 to September 2012, the most popular flavors of hummus were plain (61%), roasted (18%), garlic (11%) and red pepper (10%), according to a recent Mintel report.
