A senior digital art director/UX designer told him advertising created for the current Xbox dashboard must be compatible with the controller and with Kinect, whilst ensuring that they "work exactly the same." With Kinect being bundled with the Xbox One, there will be more advertising engagement with the peripheral, he writes, but also the opportunity for more targeted advertisements.

Walmart has spent more than a year targeting its supermarket competitors in television advertisements. But Food Lion is fighting back. A television commercial for Food Lion running currently in select markets shows a shopper at a store resembling a Wal-Mart asking an employee where the syrup can be found. The shopper waits while the worker calls across to several departments in an attempt to locate the item before directing the shopper to pharmacy - for cough syrup.

Fazoli's and Sbarro each plan to debut a fast-casual Italian concept in the near future. Fazoli's plans to open two fast-casual Italian eateries by the end of this year. The yet-to-be-named concept will operate as a separate brand under Fazoli's. Sbarro is launching fast-casual brand Pizza Cucinova in Columbus, Ohio, this fall. The brand will focus on pizzas and salads. Piada, also based in Columbus, is serving up Italian street food at 10 locations. Boca Raton, Florida-based Italio, with similar offerings to Piada, has three restaurants in Florida and another three slated to open.

Earlier this year, the Red Bulls hired R/GA to boost recognition and ticket sales.

The move is surprising for 73-year-old Slim, who built his company America Movil in a more staid sector, namely the highly regulated telecommunications and TV business in Latin America.

The death of Cadillac's planned "halo" car has been exaggerated. There've been several widely discussed stories over the past few days suggesting that Cadillac has given up on a planned $100,000 "show-stopper," possibly based on the Cadillac Ciel concept vehicle because General Motors bean-counters couldn't pencil in an appropriate business case to justify the necessary investment. TheDetroitBureau.com has been advised that, indeed, a "large luxury" model has been scrapped from the Cadillac plan. But several sources have stressed that the decision had more to do with the potential for that specific design than anything else.

With cell phones packing professional-level cameras, companies that make actual cameras -- companies like Nikon -- know that the convergence compromised devices have the life expectancy of 35mm film. Nikon President Makoto Kimura says the number of people dropping compact cameras for smartphones is "exploding" and that his company has created a new imaging business team to address the problem. He said that its task is "to create a product that will change the concept of cameras," adding that such a device will come to market in less than five years. But can it make calls?
