• Tesla's Big Road Trip
    Two Tesla Motors electric sedans drove across the country for more than 76 hours, from Hawthorne, Calif., to Manhattan, stopping only to recharge their batteries. Tesla says the road trip scored the lowest charging time for any cross-country jaunt in an electric car. The two Model S sedans - "Thunder" and "Lightning" - used Tesla's high-speed Superchargers to reload the batteries.

    A Houston furniture store owner is out an estimated $7 million due to the Seattle Seahawks' win in the Super Bowl on Sunday after losing a bet with customers who made hefty purchases at his stores. Jim McIngvale, known as "Mattress Mack," ran a 10-day promotion at his two Gallery Furniture stores promising customers their money back if the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos in the National Football League championship.
  • Ohio Launches Humorous Anti-Gambling Campaign
    Ohio regulators are spending $2 million for a state-wide ad campaign - its the biggest-ever - to combat problem gambling. Ohio for Responsible Gambling, a group of four state agencies, tapped Cincinnati-based advertising and marketing agency Northlich to develop the campaign with a pitch to raise awareness that gambling can get out of hand.
  • '90s Alcoholic Beverage Hooch Employs Keith Lemon For Comeback
    Alcoholic Lemon drink Hooch is back in the UK, with former "Business Man of the Year 1993" Keith Lemon as the face of the brand. Following a re-launch in 2012, Hooch marketing director Simon Green explained that the brand is now known "as the Brit Pop beverage" appealing to "a new generation with a distinctive zesty taste."
  • Samsung's 'UnPacked 5' Event To Unveil New Flagship
    Samsung says it will hold an "Unpacked 5" event at the Mobile World Congress on Feb. 24 in Barcelona. Maybe it's the Galaxy S 5. Maybe not: the company has only unveiled one Galaxy S device at the trade show. It does say there will be a "flagship product" and the company last year did a "Ready 4 the Show" program for the Galaxy 4. Don't hold your breath.
  • How Tough Is Aluminum? Ford Tough
    Ford will use testimonials to convince people the aluminum in the new F-150 pickup is as strong as steel. Ford plans to run a contest in which F-150 users and fans can compete for an opportunity to drive the truck "before nearly anyone else in the world." At BuiltToughTest.com, customers are being asked to tell Ford how they would test the toughness of the new F-150 pickup.

    Jack in the Box is launching Bacon Insider, the first beef/bacon-blend burger patty from a major burger chain. Besides the bacon infused in the meat, it is also in regular strips above and below. And there is bacon mayo sauce on top and below. There is also lettuce, tomato and American cheese, but they don't have bacon in them. The burger is on a brioche bun.

    Here's the (maybe) story of the origins of the Doritos brand. It happens at Disneyland, essentially an extended experiment in brand engineering. When it first opened, it featured a Mexican-themed restaurant called Casa de Fritos run by the Frito company. It was on New Orleans Street near Aunt Jemima's Pancake House. The Casa de Fritos invented the Dorito.
  • Honda Civic Ads Touts Interior
    Honda's "Inner Beauty" campaign for the UK is a celebration of the fact that beauty is about more than surface design. Created by Wieden + Kennedy's London office, the ad shows viewer the "beauty" inside a number of objects, including a golf ball, guitar amp and suitcase, before showing how they all fit inside the car and finally revealing its design.
