• Paramount Names New President Of Worldwide Marketing
    Paramount says company veteran LeeAnne Stables will become president of worldwide marketing partnerships and licensing. Stables will manage key brand relationships in both theatrical and home media, as well as film integrations and studio licensing. She has been with Paramount since 2005, when she joined as head of Global Theatrical Promotions; in 2010 she also assumed charge over the studio’s licensing arm.

    With crossovers selling like croissants, Chevrolet plans a new crossover, its fourth, that will reside between Traverse and smaller Equinox. The new vehicle is slotted to arrive after 2017. Chevrolet and other brands see value in going beyond the traditional three small/medium/large menu of crossovers to meet big demand.   • Cisco India Appoints New Brand Advertising Chief
    Cisco has appointed Bijoe George as head, brand advertising and digital marketing in India. George joins Cisco from GetActive, a Bengaluru based wearable devices company, where he was the CMO. At Cisco, he will be spearheading all activities related to brand, advertising and digital marketing. He has also been at DraftWorldwide, Ogilvy and Wunderman.
  • Dunkin' Donuts Plans 26 New California Locations
    Dunkin’ Donuts will continue its California expansion by building 26 new locations in San Francisco and Fresno. The Canton, Mass.-based chain announced two deals with franchisees to build the new California units. One of the deals involves Aharon Aminpour, who has a location in Encino, Calif., and plans to develop 17 locations in Fresno and the surrounding areas, including Clovis, Visalia and Tulare.
  • Neil Young Defends Vermont GMO Law With New 'Monsanto Years' Song
    Neil Young is supporting Vermont's new law requiring companies to state whether their food contains genetically modified organisms. That support includes leading off his show in Essex Junction in Vermont this past weekend with “The Monsanto Years,” all about agriculture and degradation of the environment. It was Young’s first-ever headlining show in Vermont. The Grocery Manufacturers Association has filed suit against Vermont over the GMO law, and Young announced Sunday that he is donating $100,000 to the fund helping the state fight that lawsuit.
  • Post-Jared, Subway CMO leaves
    Subway's CMO Tony Pace is leaving the company to start a marketing consultancy. He said, in a phone interview Monday, that his departure is unrelated to the raid on the home of spokesperson Jared Fogle, with whom the chain has suspended its relationship. He said he had been talking with the company about leaving prior to the Fogle investigation. Subway declined to comment beyond confirming that Pace is leaving.
  • McDonald's Franchisees Ask For Help
    McDonald’s Corp.’s U.S. franchisees are losing faith that a turnaround will happen. In a study of 29 operators, who own a total of 208 restaurants, the outlook average is the lowest it has been in over 11 years. Some operators are confused by all the campaigns. Says one owner, “Create Your Taste, TasteCrafted, all Day Breakfast, etc. etc. We are going in so many directions at the same time. I guess that’s what a progressive brand does?”
  • Tesla Introduces 'Ludicrous' Acceleration
    Tesla has a new, extremely high torque upgrade for its Model S. The power up lets the car go 0 to 60 in a ludicrous 2.8 seconds. Which is probably why CEO Elon Musk calls it “Ludicrous Mode.” The company will also offer the $10,000 option for its coming Model X SUV, though that will do 0 to 60 in “only” 3.3 seconds, per Musk.
  • Nissan's NV200 Is, At Long Last, Official 'Taxi Of Tomorrow'
    Nissan is about to see the its NV200 wagon become the official “Taxi of Tomorrow” in New York City, starting on Sept. 1, according to the city's Taxi and Limousine Commission. The news has been long in coming after three years of legal wrangling with New York's taxi group. Owners will be required to switch to the Nissan when they retire their current cars. The State Court of Appeals said the city had the authority to pick a taxi.
  • Chipotle Launches Digital 'Friend Or Faux' Game
    Chipotle Mexican Grill this week launches “Friend or Faux,” an online game that compares its ingredients to its competitors. The company, which had a huge hit years ago with its “Scarecrow” game around its “Food With Integrity” positioning, said the new game will be supported by a large digital campaign.
