Driving results were Deli, produce and natural and organics, per officials, who said the departments contributed to a 5.4% increase in identical store sales excluding fuel in the quarter, which ended Nov. 7.

Audi appointed Matthias Mueller the new chairman. Mueller is also VW's new CEO, replacing long-time chief Martin Winterkorn, who vacated the post in November. The board also appointed Stephan Knirsch head of engine development at Audi, to succeed Ulrich Hackenberg, the top engineer at Audi and the VW group. Hackenberg, who had been a 30 year VW veteran, was suspended two months ago, and has since departed.

Bye-bye to the big Times Square store with the Ferris wheel inside. The 110,000 square-foot toy giant is going the way of FAO Schwarz, which closed in July. The company plans to shutter by the end of the month. Toys 'R' Us decided not to renew its lease for the building. The official doors-shut date is Dec. 30. But, per a rep, it is looking for a new Manhattan space.

Uber is hoping to eliminate pickup uncertainty with a new color coding system whereby customers, as part of the ride ordering process, choose a color for a windshield light that glows when the vehicle gets nearby. Uber is testing it in Seattle and is mum about when it will be in other cities.

Actor and musician Nick Cannon is now chief creative officer at RadioShack, which filed for Chapter 11 this year, before being resucitated by a hedge fund. In that role he will be tasked with helping develop exclusive products for the brand while growing its education and STEM initiatives, per the company. The company said Cannon will have an office at its headquarters in Fort Worth, Tex.

Quiznos Grill, a new fast-casual concept by Quiznos, launched in Denver this week. It offers cooked-to-order sandwiches and housemade potato chips. The restaurant, which opened about three blocks from the sandwich chain's original unit, "In many ways...will be a learning lab for us as we think about Quiznos' turnaround," said Doug Pendergast, Quiznos president and CEO. "One of the things we're most excited about is the opportunity to learn how far we can push and extend the Quiznos brand."

Volvo has followed the recent launched of the well-received XC90 SUV with the unveiling of its new flagship sedan, the S90. Sharing the same underpinnings as the big SUV, the Volvo S90 will take aim at some of the toughest competition in the auto industry, models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and newly redesigned BMW 7-Series. And while it's not likely to generate massive sales, it will serve as a critical halo car for the Swedish brand.
