• One Man's Fight Against Out-Of-Home Ads
    Jordan Seiler created PublicAdCampaign, a guerilla initiative to cover up and swap out corporate street advertising with actual art. He does it in part by welding keys that unlock cases on buses and subways that protect ads from "vandals." Seiler uses those keys himself and shares them with a community of street artists. His slogan? "We Got Keys For That."
  • Solar Backpack Company Partners With Disney
    Soular Backpack is partnering with Disney for the Sept. 30 release of The Queen of Katwe, which is about a poor girl in Uganda who becomes a chess star despite having access only to lighting from kerosene lamps at home. Soular backpacks have a solar panel connected to a battery pack that can be charged by the sun and then used back at home.
  • Meijer Partners With Shipt For Home Delivery
    Meijer has kicked off its partnership with Shipt, allowing for home grocery home delivery. Beginning in southeastern Michigan, shoppers can use the app to order their groceries to be delivered within an hour. The super center chain has not revealed when the service might be expanded into its other markets in Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky.
  • Chipotle To Hire 5,000 Workers In One-day Spree
    Chipotle is setting aside its problems and going on a hiring spree. The company, which has struggled in recent months with an E. coli outbreak and a lawsuit accusing it of mistreating workers, plans to offer jobs to 5,000 people across the country on Sept. 28. A spokesman says Chipotle needs the staff as it opens more than 200 restaurants this year.

    Procter & Gamble Co. has filled the new position of global media director with an executive from the firm that makes Oreo cookies. Gerry D'Angelo, who is a high-level media executive with snack and candy company Mondelez International, will join P&G in January and be based in Geneva, Switzerland.

    Shinola, best known for its high-end wrist watches, and Bedrock are planning the first Shinola Hotel, located in downtown Detroit. Bedrock and Dan Gilbert, the chairman and founder of Rock Ventures and Quicken Loans Inc., bought the building in 2013. Built in 1915 as a hardware store, the building was most recently home to Eastern Wig and Hair Co.

    Burger King is hoping on another wacky food mashup with the introduction of Cheetos Chicken Fries. On Sept. 14, Cheetos Chicken Fries will be available to the masses at participating Burger King restaurants. The cheese-dusted chicken sticks cost $2.89 for a nine-piece order, touted as "chicken on the inside, dangerously cheesy on the outside."
