The stores were fully reimagined - from layout to building and environmental enhancements to added technology - with a goal of improving the shopping experience and making it easier for customers to get what they need as quickly as possible.

The demographic gave higher marks to restaurant chains than did their older counterparts, according to the latest EquiTrend Study from The Harris Poll. Five Guys and Starbucks are among chains with the highest brand equity, the poll finds.

For the last few years, Amazon has held at least one annual meeting at its Seattle headquarters to discuss whether it should enter the pharmacy business, says two people familiar with the company's plans. After a report by ABC News last week uncovered 40 instances of parked BMWs spontaneously bursting into flames since 2012, the company is on the defensive. According to "Automotive News," BMW of North America called the story "sensationalistic." Neither BMW nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is certain of the cause of the fires.

After musician Selena Gomez signed on to represent Coach - after having been an ambassador for Louis Vuitton, a brand with a very different aesthetic, one nonfan tweeted: "Selena Gomez, the previous face of Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, Verizon, and the current face of Pantene and Coach ... a joke to the industry???"

Decades-old industry heavyweights like Hertz are finding themselves competing against nimble, new car-sharing companies like Maven, not to mention ride-sharing firms like Lyft and Uber. That's no small challenge: ride-sharing and car-sharing have both made getting around without a car of one's own much easier than in days past, giving consumers fewer reasons to rely on rentals.
