• Retailer Exec Blake Nordstrom Dies
    Blake Nordstrom, who was co-president of the department store named for his family, died in Seattle on Wednesday morning. The 58-year-old disclosed in December he had been diagnosed with a treatable form of lymphoma and was undergoing treatment. He ran the luxury retailer along with his two brothers, Pete and Erik Nordstrom, who will continue to head the company. Their great-grandfather, Swedish immigrant John Nordstrom, founded the company in 1901 in Seattle.
  • Procter & Gamble Plans Eco-Friendly Liquid-Free Cleaners
    A new Procter & Gamble brand, DS3, will include eight liquid-free cleaning products for personal care and the home. The compact size makes them travel-friendly. The products are made with technology that eliminates water from the final product, removing 80% of weight while reducing 70% of space required, which should make it easier and cheaper for P&G to ship to retailers or consumers. The company notes that DS3, which will use the tagline "DS3: Enlightened clean,” could reduce impact on the environment.
  • Chipotle Faces Another PR Disaster
    A Chipotle Mexican Grill customer in Saugus, Mass. alleges biting into a burrito and encountering a metal nail that chipped his tooth. The customer told the cashier who gave him back his money and apologized, plus he informed the company via its website. He also posted pictures of the food on Facebook. The news breaks as the brand is trying to repair its image, which took a series of hits after several food safety issues, including two E. coli breakouts.
