Uber has officially acquired Postmates, in a $2.65 billion deal originally announced in July. The two entities will continue to operate separately with independent branding while some back-end operations like a shared pool of drivers will merge. Uber says the deal will benefit merchants. The companies will gather merchant feedback next year via a “regional listening exercise.”
