  • Where Sushi Really Comes From
    Kristofor Lofgren, founder of Bamboo Sushi in Portland, Ore., was speaking on a panel on sustainability, and digital artist and filmmaker Joe Sabia was in the audience. He wanted to help him tell his story. Bamboo Sushi is the first certified sustainable sushi restaurant, and Sabia made a short film for Bamboo that is far more than an ad.
  • 'Consumer Reports' Passes On Fisker Karma
    It's a beautiful luxury sports car with an electric powertrain. But for $108,000 the extended-range electric vehicle should have a tad fewer issues. The Detroit Bureau notes that the Consumer Reports take on the car is that its interior space is too small, and at nearly 5,400 pounds, it actually outweighs some versions of the Dodge Durango, yet seats only four and, because of the large battery in the center tunnel, the back seats are rather tight.
  • Starbucks Opens Juice Store
    This week Starbucks opened its first retail store, Evolution Fresh, that has nothing to do with coffee and everything to do with juice and veggies. The grand opening comes four months after Starbucks bought the Evolution Fresh brand, and two days before the company's annual meeting, where CEO Howard Schultz will point to Evolution Fresh as the direction of brand extension: the $50 billion health and wellness category dominated by premium juices and vegan and vegetarian food.

    Foursquare offers discounts to users who check in at participating retailers, but the social network is rolling out the feature in an exclusive deal with Walgreens.

    Select Sears hometown dealer stores and Sears Hardware stores will be closed by Sears Holdings. The company will close 43 Sears hometown dealer stores and 10 Sears Hardware stores over the first half of 2012.
