The $10 billion business that Airbnb runs lets people share share their homes for a fee. Now it wants them to share dinner. Airbnb is encouraging hosts to throw dinners for strangers as part of a new pilot program in San Francisco, where it's based. The company would take a cut of the proceeds, similar to how it makes money from its core business of letting people list spare bedrooms or homes on its website.

"As you look at the Nielsen numbers, they actually tell you the pie is contracting a little bit. Lexus, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Maserati, Infiniti and Acura Followed Mercedes among luxury brands.

The concept has been extended to an online-Fan Park, where fans can post pins with geo-located text messages, videos and photos.

Nissan will unveil an all-new version of its full-size Titan at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, and now it is sending out a Twitter heads-up alerting the world that it will pull the wraps off a second pickup next week. "There's a special member of the #Nissan family on the way. Due date: June 11th," says the company in an ad showing the image of a gauze-covered truck that "The Detroit Bureau" has confirmed is the next-generation Frontier model.

Sears is testing "Connected Solutions" experiential shops that bring together smart home and personal automation products. The 1,700-square-foot shops are being piloted in three Sears locations in the Chicago area, including Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, Ill.; and Oakbrook Center, Oakbrook, Ill.

The NBA will take time out during the Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurts to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the league, including a limited-edition NBA-branded shoe to honor the occasion. The NBA Anniversary 2014 shoe will hit June 6, with only 1,946 pairs available to commemorate the NBA's first year in 1946. NBA commissioner Adam Silver will autograph the first pair of shoes with the serial number 0001.

Sande Riesett started the Show Your Soft Side campaign for animals in Baltimore in 2011, a response to a string of animal abuse cases. Riesett, who owns a boutique ad agency, created the campaign "to change the mindset of young people," who think hurting cats and dogs is being tough. The first "softies" were Orioles outfielder Adam Jones, followed by MMA fighter John Rallo and then-Baltimore Ravens player Jarret Johnson.

Apple unveiled a new program at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference keynote on Monday. Called HomeKit, it is Apple's effort to bring order to the fragmented connected-device world of home automation. The company says HomeKit will be a kind of air traffic control for automated appliances with iPhone as the remote.

Fairway Market's new store in Lake Grove, N.Y., features a design meant to boost worker productivity. It also has new signage meant to appeal to suburbanites. The store, the first in Long Island, is slated to open in July. Kevin McDonnell, co-president and COO told analysts in an earnings conference call that "Our renewed focus on enhancing in-store communications will allow us to more effectively highlight our differentiated offering and value proposition, which becomes increasingly important as Fairway extends further out from the city."
