• Intel, Samsung, And LG Win Big Buzz At CES
    Much of the excitement at CES this year centered on Intel, Samsung and LG. According to a social media analysis by Hotwire, these were the most talked about brands. The London-based PR firm looked at tweets in association with the hashtag #CES2016 to compile a list of the top 10 brands for generating buzz at the Las Vegas event, as well as the top trends from the show.
  • Taco Bell Super Bowl Ad To Tout 'Biggest Food Creation Yet'
    Taco Bell is planning a Super Bowl ad to launch its "biggest food creation yet." To build suspense, it is running a "purposefully redacted" press release on its new Ta.co website. The release reveals only that the product is described by Chris Brandt, Taco Bell's chief concept and brand officer, as "delicious" and "the next craveable food creation." The 30-second spot is the first Super Bowl ad for Taco Bell since 2013, and it was created by Deutsch LA.
  • Jelly Belly Maker To Add Caffeine
    David Klein, who in the '70s came up with the idea of a store that sold only jelly beans, and ones with new and compelling flavors, created Jelly Belly. Then sold it. Now, the 69-year-old Klein has a new project, a slightly caffeinated jelly bean flavored like coffee-shop drinks. He and his business partners have launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $10,000 to launch their Original Coffee House Beans.
  • President Obama To Appear At Detroit Auto Show
    It's about time. In his last year in office, President Barack Obama is going to check out the Detroit auto show. White House spokesman Keith Maley told the "Free Press" that Obama will go to Detroit on Jan. 20. Several members of Michigan's congressional delegation will visit on Monday -- Obama is coming during the second week typically reserved for the public.
  • Derek Zoolander Fuels Fiat Paramount Partnership
    Fictive supermodel Derek Zoolander, from the next installment of the eponymous movie, is featured in a Fiat tie-in with the Paramount film, supporting the 500X crossover. Zoolander, played by Ben Stiller, can't contain himself in the ad after setting off a traffic camera as he drives by in a gold 500X. He then rolls down the window and backs up to take a series of shots while doing his famous "blue steel" pose.
  • Little Girl Bullied For Glasses In Ad Council Spot
    The Ad Council has created a spot in partnership with The Bully Project. It features a girl named Lexie who last year posted a picture on Facebook of herself holding a sign that read: "I got bullied for wearing glasses! Share if you're against bullying! #StopBullying" She reached out to The Bully Project to help spread her message. The post ended up being shared more than three million times and many people sent Lexie messages of encouragement. In the Ad Council broadcast and digital video, Lexie and her mother tell their story.
  • Lenovo Making Phablet With Google's Project Tango
    Lenovo and Google have been working together for a year to find a mainstream use for Google's experimental 3D-aware Project Tango technology. Lenovo is working on a phablet that uses the technology that employs sensors to give a mobile device a realistic awareness of the physical world around it. Development for the under 6.5-inch device won't be finished until this summer.
  • McDonald's Packaging Gets Makeover
    McDonald's is changing the look of its packaging, adding bright lettering and an updated take on its iconic Golden Arches. It is the chain's first global packaging overhaul in three years. Matt Biespiel, McDonald's senior director-global brand development, gives credit for what he calls the new "DynamicDesign" to a team that included designers from seven agencies. A year ago, McDonald's plucked one designer from each of its lead agency partners, sent them to London's Shoreditch neighborhood, and had them brainstorm for a week.
  • What Car Buyers Want From Connected Cars
    An AutoTrader study set to be released today finds that among 77% of shoppers, technology is more important than car color. The study says car buyers don't want to sacrifice safety, but they do want the high tech. "The automotive industry will design new automobiles that allow consumers to maximize their entertainment experiences," said Terry Young, CEO of agency Sparks & Honey. "Cars will become modular and can be altered based on long/short-haul trips or type of entertainment/work experience that is needed in the car."
