Coca-Cola bought a stake in a California-based startup called L.A. Aloe, which is known for the company's Aloe Gloe brand.

Walmart is taking direct aim at Amazon when it comes to free shipping. The retailing giant announced Wednesday that it is going to offer a free 30-day trial of its ShippingPass, good for unlimited two-day shipping. ShippingPass launched last year and is similar to Amazon Prime.

Hershey has turned down a takeover offer from Mondelez International, the Deerfield, Ill.-based maker of Oreos and other snack foods. A merger between the two companies would have formed the world's largest candy manufacturer. It's unknown whether Mondelez will up its offer.

Colin Mitchell will report to McDonald's global chief marketing officer Silvia Lagnado and will be tasked with articulating the fast-food chain's brand vision and positioning. He will also be charged with "impacting major pieces of the McDonald's brand, including advertising, visual identity and packaging."

One person died in a May crash in Florida involving a Tesla Model S cruising on its semi-autonomous Autopilot mode and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating the wreck. It was in a Model S, and details of the crash are only becoming public now, thanks to a statement from Tesla and an investigation from NHTSA.
