The Seattle Times is reporting that the airline asked a gay couple to give up their seats so that a straight couple could sit together. And, even though the gay couple accepted Alaska Air’s apology for the mistake, social media went nuts and the airline’s image as an LGBT-friendly brand is damaged.

Kohlberg & Company has completed its acquisition of Tyson Foods’ frozen bakery business, including the Sara Lee, Van’s, Chef Pierre and Bistro Collection brands. The new business will encompass all four brands and be called Sara Lee Frozen Bakery. Its new chief executive officer is Craig Banner, who was previously president of U.S. Morning Foods at the Kellogg Co., and before that was chief marketing officer at Wendy’s.

Puma is partnering with the WNBA, its first alliance with a pro sports league. The sports shoe and apparel company, which already counts WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith of the Dallas Wings as a brand endorser, can use the league’s trademarks and show WNBA players in their team uniforms in its campaigns. Unlike Nike, Adidas and Under Armour, Puma does not have a similar deal with the NBA.

General Electric has hired an investment bank to organize an auction for its digital assets. The company’s multibillion-dollar digital business has been struggling with technical issues and weakening sales. GE has been seeking partners to invest in GE Digital as it narrowed the target markets for the division and abandoned plans to build a cloud platform, instead partnering with Amazon.com and Microsoft clouds.

Publix has put out new warnings to shoppers: Any dog inside the grocery store had better be a service animal, and it better not be in the cart. The Florida-based grocery chain added new signs at store entrances. Service animals — or, rather, animals passed off as them — have sparked discussion everywhere from airplane cabins to statehouses. More than a dozen states have recently passed laws regarding service animals.
