• Kohl's Makes Interim CEO Permanent
    Kohl's is making its interim CEO permanent. The troubled retailer's board has unanimously appointed Tom Kingsbury as CEO, effective Feb. 2. Kingsbury has served as Kohl’s interim chief executive since Dec. 2, following the resignation of Michelle Gass, who left the company to become president of Levi Strauss & Co.  "In connection with Kingsbury’s appointment, Kohl’s said it has reached an agreement with Macellum, the activist investor group that has long targeted the retailer," per Chain Store Age.  
  • Tiffany, Nike Collaborate On Sneaker
    News is leaking out about a Nike collaboration with Tiffany & Co. Executives from both companies have been teasing it on Instagram with an image of a sneaker box in Tiffany’s signature robin’s-egg blue emblazoned with Nike’s swoosh logo. “A legendary pair,” it read. "A collaboration between Nike and Tiffany had been rumored for weeks, with images circulating online of a Nike Air Force 1 in black nubuck bearing a Tiffany-blue swoosh," per Business of Fashion
  • Boycotts Are Often Countered with 'Buycotts'
    Boycotts don't always result in an overall decrease in sales due to "buycotts," or the phenomenon of consumers buying products they might not normally buy due to the political statements or actions of the company or its executives. "When a brand is in the news or trending on social media, the wave of publicity may act like advertising to boost sales, meaning people may be more likely to buy a product not because they’re actively participating in the buycott, but because they’ve heard the brand name a lot recently," per Kellogg Insights.
