• Mission Athletecare Signs Celeb Hailee Steinfeld
    Since its inception in 2009, Mission Athletecare has been known as a performance apparel and accessories brand driven by endorsers who score in sports. Now it has aligned performing arts star Hailee Steinfeld, as the spokesperson for its women's activewear, joining other endorsers including Serena Williams, Dwyane Wade, Drew Brees and Mia Hamm.

    About one-third of McDonald's employees don't like the new monochrome uniforms, according to Fortune. Others on social media compared them to those worn on the Death Star in Star Wars or District 12 citizens in the post-apocalyptic /react-text Hunger Games. They were created by designers Bindu Rivas and Waraire Boswell.
  • Diageo Cutting Over 100 Scottish Jobs Due To Brexit
    Drinks giant Diageo is planning to cut more than 100 jobs across its Scottish operations because of concerns over Brexit. The jobs cuts are a part of the company's realignment or review process where jobs from the UK could be moved to Diageo's plants in the U.S. and Italy. GMB, the UK's workers union, warned the government that Brexit could affect jobs.
  • Subway's Store Count Declines
    For the first time in the company's history, Subway closed more U.S. stores than it opened the year before. The sandwich shop has long bragged that there are more Subway restaurants in the world than any other restaurant chain. But in 2016 the chain closed more stores than it opened, which meant the chain's store count dropped slightly, Subway told CNNMoney.

    Back in 2015, Uber thought it had pulled a fast one on Apple by camouflaging the ride-hailing app so Apple would not find out that Uber had been secretly identifying and tagging iPhones even after its app had been deleted and the devices erased, which violated Apple's privacy guidelines. But Apple was onto the deception and threatened to pull Uber from the App store if Uber didn't stop the trickery.

    Sly Stallone encounters Canelo Alvarez in two spots, under Tecate Light's "Born Bold" umbrella campaign, telling him to "Be Bold," as he shows him how to punch a bee hive, use raw meat to reduce a swollen eye and the correct way to display a championship belt. The spots break this week during sports programming, including the NBA playoffs.
  • Samsung Twitter Guru Mocks 'Dick Pic' Post
    Samsung tweeted about their latest phone, the Galaxy S8, and asked their followers to show them the first photo they took with it. One of the most popular responses was from a Tweeter named Edward who wrote "It was a dick pic." Of course, it got hundreds of retweets and everyone laughed until Samsung totally destroyed him with a single tweet of the microscope emoji.

    Unilever's Suave brand's latest marketing effort features beauty influencers who were sent the fake brand "evaus" - actually Suave Professionals - to try, and captures their reaction to realizing they had been using Suave the whole time. Now the brand is asking converts to visit a website to receive coupons and share their story with the hashtag #SuaveBeliever.
  • Harris Poll Chooses Top Brands
    The Harris Poll has released its 29th annual study of America's top brands, and Kohl's is one of the retail brands on top. Kohl's earned the top position in the department store category of the poll. Other brands recognized include Nordstrom, TJ Maxx, Best Buy, DSW, Dick's Sporting Goods, Starbuck's and Home Depot.
  • Petsmart Buys 'Chewy' E-Commerce Site
    Pet supplies mega-retailer PetSmart is seeking to acquire Chewy.com, the market's top online retailer. The combination will enhance both companies' reach. Chewy.com CEO Ryan Cohen is to operate Chewy as an independent subsidiary of PetSmart. The acquisition, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, is expected to close this summer.
