This fall's Detroit auto show will feature displays by twice as many brands as last year’s edition, and the debuts of multiple new vehicles, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association announced. Pharma giant Merck filed a suit in federal court in Washington over a federal law that empowers Medicare for the first time to negotiate prices directly with drugmakers. This is "the drug industry’s most significant move so far to fight back against a substantial change to health policy, which will go into effect in 2026," per The New York Times. "Democrats pushed through the Medicare-negotiation program last summer as a provision of the Inflation Reduction Act, framing it as a way of lowering drug prices."

GameStop Corp. board has elected Ryan Cohen executive chairman, effective immediately. The board said its former CEO, Matt Furlong, who joined the company from Amazon, has been “terminated.” Billionaire activist investor Cohen, who co-founded Chewy and sold it to PetSmart for $3.35 billion in 2017, took a stake in GameStop in 2020, per Chain Store Age. In January 2021, Cohen and two other former Chewy executives were named to the company's board as part of an agreement with management.

Moderna and Pfizer are being hit with separate COVID vaccine lawsuits by New York-based Promosome. Each lawsuit alleges that both companies violated patent protections related to MRNA technology. Both companies used Promosome’s patented method to produce their COVID-19 vaccines, according to the filings.

The British Museum has ended a 27-year sponsor partnership with BP, and supporters are urging the museum not to agree to any future agreements with similar companies. "The long-standing partnership between the fossil fuel major and the museum had angered campaigners, who have been lobbying for decades for the UK’s arts sector to end sponsor relations with fossil fuels," per Edie. "The end of this partnership follows a decade-long campaign of creative resistance spearheaded by the activist theatre group BP or not BP?"

The PGA Tour and LIV merger will increase Saudi Arabia's influence on golf. PGA Tour officials and Saudi leaders said the rivals had agreed to create a “new, collectively owned, for-profit entity,” per The New York Times. "In a joint statement on Tuesday, the wealth fund and the PGA Tour said the former rivals would 'implement a plan to grow these combined commercial businesses, drive greater fan engagement and accelerate growth initiatives already underway.'"

Patagonia is suing Nordstrom in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Western Division in Los Angeles, alleging the company sold “thousands of counterfeit Patagonia sweatshirts and t-shirts through its Nordstrom Rack stores." The brand alleges “counterfeiting, trademark infringement, unfair competition, dilution, and copyright infringement,” per court documents. "In an effort to avoid litigation, Patagonia said it asked Nordstrom to pull the items, to no avail," per Retail Dive. "Patagonia recently stopped selling through Nordstrom, and discovered the alleged fakes this year, per the complaint."

Christian radio financial advisor Dave Ramsey is being sued for $150 million over accusations of negligent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment and violation of consumer protection laws after he promoted the Timeshare Exit Team. "The lawsuit also states that Ramsey continued advertising the company despite mounting evidence it was defrauding its customers, including several successful lawsuits against the company, letters from listeners and warnings from government agencies," per USA Today.
