• Doritos Ads Stars To Be In A&E Reality Show
    The A&E Network is shooting a reality TV series in tiny Batesville, Ind. The show is about the five Herbert brothers who won $1 million when their Doritos commercial was named the best ad during the 2009 Super Bowl. "It's a good day to release it, isn't it?," said Joe Herbert about the April 1 release date. "It might make people wonder if it's true or not, but it is."
  • Upworthy Is Going Native With Unilever
    Upworthy is doing native advertising with Unilever as a brand partner. The project is part of Unilever's new marketing strategy, "Crafting Brands for Life", around social challenges. The viral content-social issue site Upworthy said the idea is to make the site as "clean and enjoyable" for readers as possible.
  • Hyundai Stepping Up Debuts
    After taking a breather in 2013, Hyundai is back at it with vehicle launches this year. The automaker is replacing the Genesis and the Sonata first. Dave Zuchowski, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said the introduction of new vehicles was vital to Hyundai's growth, following the 2008-09 recession. "Our product cadence has been very aggressive and that's contributed to our success," he said.
  • Spotify Exec Lectures Brands On Bands
    Senior executives from Spotify say brands had better match their ethos to the music and bands they are aligning with if they don't want people to feel the inauthenticity. Speaking at Advertising Week Europe 2014, Chris Maples, Spotify vice-president of Europe, said, "You can't have brand 'X' badgering band 'Y'."
  • McCafe Coming To Stores
    Last year, McDonald's and Kraft Foods Group said they would test a McCafe variety of packaged ground and whole bean coffee, and single-cup options at grocery stores and other retail locations. Retail sales have begun in selected locations, like Wegmans supermarket in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where McDonald's McCaf brand is currently well represented on the coffee aisle.

    The financial-sector company soon to be formerly known as ING U.S., is rolling out ads spotlighting the new name: Voya Financial. The new ads, which precede a full-out campaign later this year, are from lead agency BBDO in Atlanta and digital shop iCrossing. By this time next week, the old ING moniker will be no more. The Voya name and logo were developed with Interbrand.

    General Motors CEO Mary Barra spent much of her time during her testimony on Capitol Hill yesterday saying GM was a different company now with a focus on safety, though she was pressed on issues around the recall of 2. 5 million vehicles. "I would say, in general, we've moved from a cost culture since the bankruptcy to a customer culture," she said.

    Basketball icon Oscar Robertson was in New York last week to help usher in the NCAA tournament Sweet 16 games in Madison Square Garden, the first time "The World's Most Famous Arena" has hosted March Madness since 1961. I men's player of the year), becoming the only player in the NBA to average a triple-double for an entire season.
