The Libertarian party held its national convention this past weekend. Amid a host of colorful characters, former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson took the party mantle. He will face off in November against Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and other third-party and independent candidates.

A new MTV initiative, "Elect This," launched this morning. It aims to create a platform for "[MTV's] audience [to] connect with the issues that matter to them in an election season dominated by personalities over policy, and scandal over substance."
