  • ROBERT J. CALLANDER: Omnicom Group Inc.
    ROBERT J. CALLANDER, 71 years old and a longstanding director of advertising holding company Omnicom Group Inc., quit the board unexpectedly after expressing concerns about the creation of an entity that houses Omnicom's Internet assets. The entity, now called Seneca, is structured as a private partnership in which Omnicom holds preferred stock that it doesn't control. Callander also has had some broader corporate-governance concerns.

    DraftWorldwide made several new hires in its Chicago office. DAVID KOPERA was hired as Senior Vice President, Group Creative Director, on the Burger King and Sprint PCS accounts; ANGELO KRITIKOS was appointed Senior Vice President, Director of Finance; MEGAN O'CONNOR was hired as Senior Vice President, Group Account Director, New Business; and MARK STOJACK, is now Vice President, Account Director, on the Sprint PCS retail and promotions account.

    STEPHANIE LEIFER gains the title of Vice President for comedy series at ABC. She is charged with developing the network’s roster of comedies for the fall. She takes the place of Julie Glucksman, Comedy Chief under Stu Bloomberg. Glucksman left when Bloomberg was replaced by Susan Lyne as entertainment president.

    ALASDHAIR WILLIS has resigned as publisher of Wallpaper after two years on the job. He follows founding editor, Tyler Brulé, who quit after a series of rows with owner Time Inc.

    SCOTT WILLETT joins Budget Living as Associate Publisher from Teen People, where he was Entertainment and Technology Manager. Budget Living is the new lifestyle and personal-finance magazine being launched by Budget Living Media.
  • JEAN-PAUL COLACO: Radio Disney
    JEAN-PAUL COLACO has become President of Radio Disney, a new position, from Vice President and General Manager of the unit of ABC Radio.
  • ED NEEDHAM: Rolling Stone
    ED NEEDHAM, editor in chief of Emap's laddie monthly FHM, was named managing editor of Rolling Stone. Needham succeeds Robert Love, who left the magazine last month after five years in the position. He was with RS for a total of 20 years.
  • Tony Hansen: Emerging Interest
    Emerging Interest, a marketing consultancy dedicated to making online marketing more effective for buyers and sellers, has named TONIE HANSEN Director of Sales and Marketing. Hansen has five years experience in the interactive marketing field and was most recently the Director of Marketing for Excite@Home's media organization. Hansen's role will be to oversee all sales initiatives for EI's Advertising Road Show series, as well as manage marketing and other strategic initiatives.

    CRAIG SWERDLOFF has been named Vice Predident for National Direct Marketing Sales at L90, Inc. Swerdloff joins L90 from eBrokers, a Boston-based email brokerage company, which he owned. Before that, he spent five years with 24/7 Media.
