• New Engen Adds People Person
    New Engen is appointing Sam Kanner, ex-Alaska Airlines executive, as vice president of people to oversee the marketing tech company's employee- and culture-related programs and initiatives. His responsibilities will include organizational design, talent review and development and related duties. The firm expects to add more than 150 new employees in the coming year, primarily in engineering and performance marketing, at its Seattle headquarters and in offices in New York, San Francisco, Dallas and Charlotte.

    Sam Jenkins has departed tourism marketing organization NYC & Company to join Oberland as art director where he will work across the agency's roster of clients. At NYC & Company  Jenkins played a key role in the creation of a November digital-first global campaign that invites travelers to visit the city through more personalized experiences.  
  • FCB Bolsters Communications Team With Agency Vet Mitchem
    FCB has appointed Melanie Mitchem senior vice president/director global communications and PR to help lead the network's media relations department. She previously worked at Columbia Business School but earlier was an integral member of the IPG network, leading global communications at Mediabrands and Universal McCann (UM) as well as serving as a key player in taking Mediabrands’ MAGNA brand global.    
  • Staughton Joins AnalogFolk
    AnalogFolk hires Karen Staughton as associate director, strategy for the agency’s Portland office. Office clients include Nike and U.S. Football. In addition to client strategy Staughton will work on new business opportunities. She reports to AF partner/managing director Kunal Muzumdar. Staughton has worked on both the agency and client side in the U.S. and abroad for global music, entertainment and lifestyle brands. Most recently, she was a senior strategist at Swift Agency in Portland, where she worked on adidas, PayPal, YouTube Music and Blue Apron. 
  • FCB NY Promotes Two
    Todd Sussman has been promoted from senior vice president, group strategy director to chief strategy officer at FCB New York, replacing Deb Freeman who has left the agency. Sussman will join CEO Karyn Rockwell and CCO Ari Halper in shaping the agency's future growth plans. The agency is also upping Gabriel Schmitt to executive creative director following the momentum of the agency’s Burger King “Whopper Detour” campaign which ranks as the chain's most successful promotion. The Lions-winning creative first joined the agency as group creative director and was instrumental in standout campaigns for Valspar, Beiersdorf and Ad Council.

    ICF is making some leadership changes as the company prepares to debut its new collective network ICF Next that brings together all the firm’s agencies under one umbrella.   • Circus Maximus Hires Content Strategy Director
    Circus Maximus has hired Ashley Richardson-George as the shop's content strategy director to handle social strategy and content creation, tracking and analytics as well as work with the senior management team on new business development.She previously worked at digital entertainment marketing agency Brigade Marketing, where she oversaw the strategy, community management and creative work for entertainment properties.   
  • Midnight Oil Adds Strategist To Its Gaming Practice
    Burbank, CA-based agency Midnight Oil has hired Jack Appleby as director/creative strategy. He’s tasked with helping to lead the agency’s growing gaming practice--with Steve Bastien, Midnight Oil’s recently hired group account director/gaming--which services clients including Activision Blizzard and Bethesda Softworks. Previously Appleby was director/creative strategy at Petrol Advertising.
  • Hero Digital Adds First CMO
    Hero Digital has appointed Kenneth Parks as the customer experience agency's first chief marketing officer following its recent acquisition of digital innovation agency Clock Four. Parks will help to spearhead Hero Digital’s brand strategy, marketing and sales enablement under CEO David Kilimnik.  Previously Parks spent nine months as CMO at Dentsu Aegis Network where he was responsible for shaping the network’s brand and strategy in the U.S. He left in September. Before DAN, Parks spent 17 years at Publicis Groupe's Digitas in a variety of senior roles including CMO, managing director and head of client services.
  • Deutsch LA Adds New Creative Lead
    Deutsch is promoting Brett Craig to partner/chief creative officer of the agency's Los Angeles office. In this new role, Craig will join president/chief digital officer Pam Scheideler to lead the office, with Craig responsible for all creative output. He reports to North American chief creative officer Pete Favat.
