• RALPH LANE POLK II: Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame
    RALPH LANE POLK II (1882-1949) has been selected to enter the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame, the highest professional honor in direct and interactive marketing. As president of R. L. Polk & Co. from 1923 until 1949, Ralph Lane Polk II fueled the growth of automotive marketing by compiling automotive registrations and transforming them into market statistics and direct marketing tools. The induction ceremony will occur during the DMA's 85th Annual Conference & Exhibition on Oct. 22, 2002 in San Francisco, Calif.

    Dow Jones & Co. named RICHARD F. ZANNINO chief operating officer and KAREN ELLIOT HOUSE senior vice president and publisher of all print editions of The Wall Street Journal. Zannino had been chief financial officer. House was previously president of the company's international group. Peter R. Kann, who had been the Journal's publisher since 1989, remains chairman and chief executive. Kann, who is married to House, will continue as editorial director of all Dow Jones publications.
