• ROJON HASKER: Safeway Inc.
    Safeway Inc. announced that ROJON HASKER has been named Senior Vice President, Marketing and Merchandising. Hasker was most recently President of the company's Phoenix division. Hasker joined Safeway in 1972 as a clerk in Alaska. After progressing through the retail ranks she was named Retail Operations Manager in the Phoenix Division in 1997, and Vice President and Marketing Operations Manager in January 2000. Later that year she was promoted to Phoenix Division President.
  • JERRI DEVARD: Verizon
    JERRI DEVARD has left Citigroup for Verizon, where she will become Senior Vice President for Brand Management and Marketing Communications. In her new role, DeVard will be responsible for leading corporate-wide initiatives to build and strengthen the Verizon brand worldwide. She will also manage advertising, media planning and buying, and direct mail-direct response for the company's telecommunications organization. DeVard will be based in New York City.
  • STEVEN GOODBARN: EchoStar Communications Corp
    EchoStar Communications Corp, the No. 2 U.S. satellite television company, named former Janus Capital Chief Financial Officer STEVEN GOODBARN to its Board of Directors, the company said in a federal filing on Tuesday. Effective Dec. 30, Goodbarn, who served as Janus CFO from 1992 through late 2000, filled a new slot on the board of EchoStar, which operates the Dish Network with over 8 million subscribers. Earlier this month, the company expanded its board to 10 members from nine.
  • KELLY FORD: Travelzoo Inc.
    KELLY FORD has been named Vice President of Marketing for New York-based Travelzoo Inc., an online media company focusing on travel deals. Ford joins Travelzoo after 2 years as a Director in AOL's Media Strategy team in New York. He also brings 8 years of international brand management experience gained at Campbell Soup Company as well as several years in management consulting and internet marketing.
  • PETER LUND: Emmis Communications
    Indianapolis Emmis Communications Corporation recently announced that PETER LUND has joined the Emmis Communications Board of Directors. Lund served as President and CEO of CBS Inc. and President and CEO of CBS Television and Cable from October 1995 through June 1997. Prior to that, he had been President of the CBS Broadcast Group.
  • DAN RUTHERFORD: Kiplinger Editors
    The Kiplinger Editors, publishers of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and The Kiplinger Letter, has named DAN RUTHERFORD as Editor of Kiplinger.com, the company’s gateway Internet site. Rutherford will be responsible for the development and presentation of personal finance content for Kiplinger.com as well as the look and feel of the website, which also serves as the gateway to other Kiplinger internet-based services. Rutherford was a personal finance columnist and business reporter for Tulsa World prior to joining Kiplinger.com in the Spring of 1998. He was promoted to Managing Editor in January 1999.

JENNIFER WONDRA, a recent graduate of Kansas State University, joined the agency’s media department as Assistant Buyer/Coordinator, and ASHLEY BIGGS, a recent graduate of the University of Missouri, has joined the account service team as Account Coordinator.

    TODD JOHNSON has been named Publisher and RON SPINK has been named Associate Publisher of Workforce magazine. Johnson joined Crain Communications Inc in 1995 as Corporate Facilities Director. Spink has been with Workforce since 1997 where he started as Advertising Director. Prior to his position with Workforce, Spink was Director of Marketing and Sales for BPA International where he spearheaded sales of their interactive audit product as well as the traditional audit product line throughout the western United States and the Pacific Rim.

    Rodale Inc. recently announced that SCOTT MEYER has been named Editor of OG magazine (formerly Organic Gardening). Meyer was most recently New Media Manager for Rodale’s Organic Living Group. He succeeds John Grogan, who has left the company to work as a columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
