Bauer Publishing's Life & Style Weekly announced the appointments of KARA TORRE to the position of director of marketing and WILLIAM GASPERONI as director of promotions. Prior to joining Bauer, Torre served as merchandising director for Conde Nast Traveler and has held similar management positions at a variety of publications including New York Magazine, USA Today and Vanity Fair. Gasperoni joins Bauer from YM where he served as marketing director.

Medical Broadcasting Company (MBC), a health care interactive agency, has hired MATT MCNALLY as director of media services. McNally has worked with numerous pharmaceutical brands and joins MBC after working as a senior media planner/buyer and supervisor at agencies such as Earle Palmer Brown, i-Frontier, and most recently, the media director at Insight-Interactive Group.

Scripps Networks president ED SPRAY is retiring at the end of this year. JOHN LANSING, who has been serving as executive vice president of Scripps Networks since January, will succeed Spray as president of Scripps Networks, effective Jan. 1, 2005. Before coming to the Scripps corporate office as vice president of station operations in 2000, Lansing had been vice president and general manager of the Scripps-owned television station in Cleveland, and vice president and station manager at the Scripps station in Detroit.

KARA GOODRICH has joined BBDO New York as a creative director. She was most recently a creative director at Euro RSCG in New York. Goodrich will initially be responsible for overseeing print creative development for a number of BBDO clients.

Screenvision announced that STU BALLATT has been named the company’s senior vice president of marketing. Ballatt will be responsible for overseeing all marketing operations, strategic branding initiatives, and market research functions for Screenvision and Screenvision Direct. Prior to joining Screenvision, Ballatt held various senior management positions with the National Broadcasting Company, most recently with NBC TV Network where he was vice president of marketing and sales development.
