Boelter + Lincoln has hired MATTHEW SPAANEM as interactive designer.

Playboy Enterprises has named EDWARD S. LANG to the newly created position of senior vice president and general manager, mobile, in the company’s Entertainment Group. Lang will be responsible for the global strategy, expansion and oversight of Playboy’s mobile and wireless businesses. Most recently, Lang was vice president, mobile initiatives with Sony Corporation.

GREGG HANO left his job at Popular Science to become publisher at Teen People. The job remained vacant, Teen People folded its print component and Hano is back as publisher of Popular Science.

CHRIS BELLITTI has joined the Fox Sports Net communications team as director, corporate communications. Between 1999 and 2006, Bellitti served in ESPN’s communications department, overseeing all publicity efforts for ESPN’s international division, as well as for ESPN Deportes. Bellitti left ESPN in early 2006 for a position as director of corporate communications for mobile media company Zingy.

CHUCK MEEHAN has joined Austin-based GSD&M as a creative director. In his new role, Meehan will partner with BRIAN BORN, also a creative director, to lead creative duties for Tostitos, the PGA Tour's Fed Ex Cup, S.I.com and Texas A&M University. Before joining GSD&M, Meehan was an associate creative director with David & Goliath.

RANDEL MCDOWELL has joined Media Ventures as chief marketing officer. McDowell will be responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing. Most recently, McDowell served as vice president of sales for Adweek magazines.

FRANK ROSE has been promoted to northeast advertising manager at Inc.magazine, up from regional sales manager. He will be responsible for all sales activities from New England through Northern Virginia.

JUDITH A. MCHALE, president and chief executive officer of Discovery Communications, is stepping down effective December 1.

ROBERT FITZGERALD has been tappedto head Initiative North America's East Coast region as evp, managing director. FitzGerald will handle the day-to-day operations of the East Coast business, with an emphasis on Initiative's strategic media planning and buying offering. FitzGerald previously served as president of Initiative Japan and head of the network's North Asia operations.

WILLIAM POLLIE has joined Neocase as senior vice president of sales. Prior to joining Neocase, Pollie served as vice president of Microsoft Business Solutions.
