Researchers in Texas are seeking to block a law banning TikTok from government-owned devices and networks, but the Texas attorney general argues the ban is a necessary cybersecurity measure.

The FCC voted 3-2 to move forward with a proposal to reinstate the Obama-era net neutrality rules, which prohibited carriers from blocking or throttling traffic and from charging higher fees for prioritized delivery.

"Your proposal could not have come at a worse time," Republican lawmakers say in a letter to FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel.

"Simply stated, Amazon obfuscated the purposes for which it was using consumer data," Utah State University professor Aaron Brough said in papers filed this week with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Attorneys general from 23 states are cheering the FTC's proposal to crack down on businesses that attempt to dupe consumers by burying fake reviews.
