• IRA SUSSMAN
    IRA SUSSMAN, who has been overseeing the research efforts of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau on a consulting basis since May, has been named full-time vice president of research for the organization. He succeeds Jonathan Sims, who left CAB earlier this year to join Comcast Advertising Sales. Sussman will be responsible for guiding the media and marketing research efforts of CAB, including serving as the primary liaison with the cable and advertising communities on research issues and initiatives. He was previously EVP–Director of IM Futures of Initiative Media.

    Fairchild Publications Inc. has named MARY MURCKO publisher of its newly acquired Elegant Bride magazine, effective immediately. Murcko was most recently associate publisher of Fairchild's W and W Jewelry. Before joining W in October 2001, Murcko spent five years in Bangkok as publisher and general manager for Hachette Filpacchi Post Company, where she oversaw the Thai editions of Elle, Elle Decor, Cleo, and BMW magazine. Murcko also worked as beauty market manager for Self and senior advertising sales representative for New York magazine.

    HARLAN EVANS joined the Beacon Journal on July 7 as national advertising manager. He was the national advertising manager at the New Haven Register in New Haven, Conn., a group of 12 newspapers. Before that, he was national advertising manager at E.W. Scripps Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has experience negotiating multi-million dollar contracts in key national advertising categories and has managed sales at other newspapers in Maryland, New York and California.

She also will manage the NFL's overall brand imaging and marketing campaign, including advertising and network and partner promotions and media planning with Young & Rubicam, the League's advertising firm.
