After a fellow panelist cited Time magazine’s recent research finding that more people would rather sleep with their mobile phones by their bedside then their spouses, Skyrockit CEO Jon Vlassopulos quipped, I have a confession to make, I slept with my tablet last night.” Even worse he added, “I cheated on my phone with my tablet.” The context, was the “Stop Advertising! Customer Relationships For The Post-Mass Media World” panel during the Mobile Insider Summit. The discussion, by the way, was less about advertising issues, and more about user experience. To that point, Skyrockit’s Vlassopulos, added that marketers should think …

Well, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Mike Bloxham showrooms cooksbooks. At least not if you knew that Bloxham's alter ego (when he's not a media pundit for MediaPost, or working his day job as marketing chief for the Media Behavior Institute) is foodie blogger Fat Englishman. It’s actually restaurants. No. 2, Wein said to the audience’s surprise, was automobiles. And No. 3 was consumer electronics. Wein did not cite the No. 4 category, but I’m guessing it wasn’t porn either – mainly because I don’t think the mobile search indexing gurus actually report that. But Wein’s real point is that there are “mobile consumers on their devices wanting to buy …

Okay, so my stand-up routine leaves something to be desired, but comedians are on my mind today, not just because of the passing of Phyllis Diller, but because I just got a pitch in my inbox for a new campaign mobile marketing shop ProTexting.com featuring stand-up comedian Wali Collins examining the humor of text messaging. I can’t attest to the veracity of the PR lady’s claim that this is “the first time that text messaging was incorporated into a standup comedy routine” (somehow I think it’s not), but it might be worth checking out if you want to view the …

She just reminded me that she wrote a piece about showrooming back in 2009, before the practice was even called "showrooming."You can read it
