• AT&T Takes on ESPN, Offering Evidence 3D TV is Slow Going
    The prospect of 3D TVs transforming the American living room has only been widely considered for about 20 months, helped by word that ESPN and Discovery (plus two partners) would be launching 3D networks. Since then, there have been enough studies, reports and research to come out promising insight on whether Americans will say "I want my 3D TV" that all the noise had become silence. Nothing new was emerging to serve as a possible inflection point -- until this week when AT&T dropped ESPN 3D from its U-verse service, citing limp consumer demand.
  • Olbermann Lowers Himself With Anti-Murdoch Column
    British newspaper the Guardian carries a left-wing tilt, but it may have allowed that to cloud its editorial judgment in running a piece by Keith Olbermann this week. The newspaper simply gave Olbermann a platform advance his animus against Rupert Murdoch on a silver platter. The paper's readers - even the ones who also despise Murdoch - deserve better than for the Guardian editors to green light Olbermann's gleeful pettiness.
