• Google Ventures Funds Music Royalty Platform Kobalt
    Kobalt has raised a $60 million Series C round led by Google Ventures. The company developed a platform to help music rights holders collect royalties from across digital music services. Michael Dell is also among the investors. Willard Ahdritz, Kobalt’s founder and CEO, plans to use the funding to build the organization, double the tech team to increase our speed, and open two new offices, one in Miami and another in Brazil, to target Latin America. An opening in Southeast Asia is also on the road map.
  • Google's Proposed Digs Take On Utopia Feel
    A series of airy, space-age buildings with translucent modular roofs and interiors that move around like Lego bricks could replace Google's Mountain View, Calif. headquarters. Heatherwick Studio of London and the BjarkeIngels Group of Denmark designed the buildings. This is just one of several proposals submitted last week to Mountain View’s planning department as part of a long-running redevelopment effort. Conor Dougherty explains.
