The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg Tuesday ruled that Google must grant search engine users a right to delete links about themselves in some cases, including links to legal records. The judgment is based on a data protection law from 1995 that provides limited rights to object to the processing of specific personal information. It would require Google and other search engines to remove links to Web pages even when the original publication adheres to the law.

Last month, the folks at WordStream reviewed responses from clients who completed a recent survey, and then segmented the data by the customer service representative to get a sense of the top performing reps. Nearly all men had scores above this group average, and all women had scores below. These reps don't manage the accounts, they just provide support. EU’s top court ruled this week that Web companies (i.e. Google) can be forced to remove what it considers to be irrelevant or excessive personal information from search engine results. “The case highlighted the struggle in cyberspace between free speech advocates and supporters of privacy rights who say people should have the ‘right to be forgotten,’” Reuters reports.

The Online Publishers Association Monday announced the appointment of CEO Jason Kint, based in D.C. He takes the reins from Pam Horan, who has been president since 2006. Kint spent seven years leading the evolution of CBS Sports into a multiplatform brand offering broadcast, online and mobile sports content. Yahoo this week pulled anti-abortion ads appearing in Web searches for abortion clinics, following Google's move and petitions from pro-choice groups UltraViolet and Naral Pro-Choice America. The groups said the ads were misleading, using vague language or posing as abortion clinics with ad titles such as Free Abortion Clinic. CNET cites The Wall Street Journal reports that petitions from Naral last month swayed Google to remove anti-abortion ads that violated its advertising policies.

Another day, another Google acquisition. Google's recent Stackdriver acquisition gives the company cloud storage services. The company was started by two former VMware employees, and offers monitoring-as-a-service to examine the performance of cloud applications. per NASDAQ. While the publication values Stackdriver at $15 million, the more important point to consider is its deal with Amazon Web Services, and Rackspace.
