The Government Printing Office is migrating its email system to Microsoft's 365 Cloud Computing System making it the first legislative branch organization to move its email to the cloud. Agencies in the legislative branch of government do not have to follow the executive branch's cloud-first policy directives, such as the cloud-first policy, which requires government agencies to take full advantage of the cloud. The migration to the new system will be live by the end of the year.

Google has updated its Gmail app to support Apple's new iPhone 6. The update optimizes the Gmail experience for the iPhone 6's larger display devices. This includes larger text and images which leads to a greater clarity on the screen.

E-commerce site Flipkart has sent out an email apologizing to customers for issues that took place on the site during its Big Billion Day Sale. "Yesterday was a big day for us. And we really wanted it to be a great day for you. But at the end of the day, we know that your experience was less than pleasant," explained the email. "We did not live up to the promises we made and for that we are really and truly sorry."

Stitch, an app designed to work help salespeople with their email, has released a new update which includes a digital assistant. Algorithms identify the patterns of the user to make personalized recommendations. For instance, the app shows the salesperson their upcoming meetings, suggests that users send a running late email if needed and suggests that the salesperson follow up with prospects, as a real life personal assistant might.

Germany is considering passing a law that would ban the use of email outside of business hours in order to alleviate the stress and mental issues associated with overworking. Larger German employers including Volkswagen already have similar rules in force. The country's labor minister Andrea Nahles commissioned the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to do a study to identify how this new law would work. The law probably won't be proposed until 2016.

Health care organizations have fallen behind other industries when it comes to email security, according to a recent report from email security firm Agari. In fact, according to the company's Q2 Email TrustIndex, 13 of the 14 health care companies interviewed for the report were considered "easy targets" for spammers.

Australia Post has warned customers that its computer systems have become compromised and the hackers have begun sending spam emails on the newspaper's behalf. The fake emails claim that the sender is a courier with a package to send to the recipient. The email instructs consumers to open an attachment and take it to their local post office to pick up the package but there is no package and the attachments contain malware.

Vertical Response, an email marketing services vendor that offers tools for small-to-medium sized businesses, has introduced a pay-as-you-go payment option. The new offering is aimed at businesses that might only send campaigns seasonally and want flexible payment options that do not require a long-term contract. Clients can prepay for credits and access discounts with volume purchasing.

The customer service department at United Airlines is being criticized on social media, after sending out a very impersonal email to a journalist that was complaining of a bad experience on a flight. Rather than personalizing the response, the airline sent him a template email which was written to "Mr. Human." The email read: "Mr Human, your email clearly expresses your disappointment and I would like to extend a sincere apology for any negative impression that may have been created."

Kevin Harley, former press secretary to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, has defended himself against allegations of using his government email address to share pornography with his former co-workers. While his email address was included in a scandal that exposed animal forwarding ring that lasted from 2008-2010, Harley claims that he never opened, replied to or forwarded any of these emails.
