• Consumers Prefer Simple Copy in Email: Study
    Simple and clear language is the best copy for email marketing messages, according to a new study by Fractl and Buzzstream. The research included feedback from 1,200 consumers aged 18 to 64 and found that "advanced" vocabulary in an email is "slightly unacceptable" and even people with advanced degrees find simple email copy "perfectly acceptable." The research also revealed that the majority of consumers enjoy humor in marketing emails.

  • Salesforce Climbs the Ranks in Gartner's Latest Multichannel Report
    Salesforce has been upgraded from visionary to leader in Gartner's latest Magic Quadrant for Multichannel Campaign Management report. The company joins IBM, SAS,Teradata, Oracle and Adobe on Gartner's leader list in its report this year. SAP earned the distinction as challenger and Marketo and Sitecore were named as visionaries.
  • House Passes Cyber Security Bill
    The House has passed a cyber security bill in response to the large number of data breaches in the private sector. Data breaches at Home Depot, Sony and Target were among the examples mentioned in the hearing. If passed into law, the policy would require all companies to notify consumers if their financial data is exposed. House legislators across the aisles supported the bill which passed 307 to 116. The Senate is next up to vote.

    Telecommunications firm Manitoba has partnered with email services provider Synacor to support its email service. Synacor's Cloud Email Platform will allow Manitoba's customers to use email. Synacor's platform will run the back end of the MTS Mail email service.

    Delaware Gov. Jack Markell reportedly used an email address with a pseudonym during his first term in office. Opponents to the governor have exposed this practice and accused the governor of using this undercover address to secretly conduct public business. Markell's lawyer defended the practice comparing it to a direct dial phone number.
