Think millenials don't use email? Think again. According to a new report from Principal Financial Group, email is the No. 1 channel that millenials choose to communicate with companies whether it is for transactions, customer service or updates. The research also revealed that email is the second most popular way that this demographic does product research, second only to search.

It takes an average of one minute and 20 seconds from when an employee opens a phishing email for the malware to infect a company's network, according to the new Verizon Breach Investigations Report. The research found that 23 percent of recipients open phishing messages. However, opening a spam email doesn't lead to an attack. It is the 11 percent of recipients that click on malicious attachments that cause cyber attacks.

Google is reportedly asking advertisers to share customer data such as an email address in order to help improve targeting. In doing so, Google will be able to use an email address to understand more about a consumer and in turn allow the advertiser to buy more targeted ads when the consumers searches for the brand or its products online.

In a letter sent in 2012, Congress asked Hillary Clinton if she or any of her staffers at the State Department had ever used a personal email account to conduct official business. The letter also asked the former Secretary of State to outline her email retention policy. Clinton did not respond to the request directly. The State Department responded by sending an outline of the department's email policies more than three months later.

Both parties attributed the fight to the email Gonzalez sent to a non-legislator who had expressed concern about a controversial issue. In the email, Gonzalez insulted Rep. Rosa Rebimbas, leading to the fight in the Capitol.

These mistakes accounted for 29.4 percent of data breaches in 2014, up from 25 percent in 2013 according to Verizon's annual Data Breach Investigations Report. While at times computer error is at fault, 60 percent of the time, user's make a mistake.

J.C. Penney Co. has disclosed some private figures to shareholders after a senior executive at the company mentioned the figure in a private email to avoid any issues with Wall Street regulators. The executive accidentally told a Wall Street securities analyst the company's sales results for its fiscal first quarter through mid-April, a number that has yet to be publicly reported, according to the retailer's filing with the SEC. The retailer forecasts that sales for the three months ending April will increase 3.5% to 4.5%.

Robin Paul, the former manager of a VA hospital in Indianapolis, has submitted her resignation after being caught up in an email controversy. Paul had internal sent an email that mocked veteran suicides. Her resignation comes after she agreed a temporary 90-day suspension of her social work license last month.
