The company recently revealed that across its clients, consumers who redeem one of these digital offers spend about 25 percent more on the transaction that on an average transaction. In addition, these merchants are seeing about a $20 return for every $1 spent on digital marketing.

California governor Jerry Brown signed an email privacy law on Thursday night. The California Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which passed through the state assembly last month, will require law enforcement to obtain a search warrant in order to access email and mobile user data. The federal government has yet to update the out-of-date law that governs email policy but is expected to pass similar legislation soon.

The research revealed that63 percent of UK office workers that own a smartphone preferred to hear from brands via email. Only 6 percent of this demographic want to hear from brands via social media and 5 percent via mobile apps.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been caught using a private email server for official business. He has defended the practice claiming that all members of The Parliament send messages through insecure channels. "If you have a talk about the security of different forms of communication, firstly, you shouldn't assume that government email services are more secure than private ones," he said in a press conference.
