Yahoo's email recycling program goes live on August 15th and inactive email accounts are being reassigned to new users who have requested the email addresses formerly maintained by others but haven't been used for more than a year. This new approach presents a new issue for marketers that have these recycled email addresses on their lists, as the new users on the account didn't opt in. Senders may already be getting hard bounces from inactive Yahoo addresses, and those should be removed from active lists. Yahoo will try to help by automatically unsubscribing recycled email addresses from any commercial emails.
