• The Navy is Piloting Microsoft's Email Platform For Reserves
    The Navy is testing out Microsoft's cloud email service to power communications for its reserve forces. The organization currently uses the Navy Marine Corps Intranet but has found that it could save money by moving to the Microsoft platform. The switch will save The Navy an estimated $16.9 million over five years.
  • Liveclicker's Real Time Email Tool Now Available Within ExactTarget Marketing Cloud
    Rich media services firm Liveclicker has partnered with email marketing services firm ExactTarget to bring real time marketing tools to email marketers. Liveclicker's RealTime Email platform will now be available to marketers within the Salesforce ExactTarget Marketing Cloud. The tool allows marketers to deliver personalized content in real time based on when and where a consumer opens a marketing email. The tool accounts for data points such as location, time, weather, language settings and type of device to personalize the content.
  • ExactTarget Reveals New Content Management Tool For The Cloud
    ExactTarget has revealed a new content creation tool for its Marketing Cloud that will go live on October 6th. The new tool, which was revealed at the company's Connections conference in Indianapolis this week, allows marketers to create digital marketing campaigns across all content formats including personalized emails, personalized coupons and real time offers. The tool allows users to drag and drop files from their desktop and even to set files to expire at a future date.
  • Triggered Email Volume & Response Rates Increased in Q2: Epsilon
    Triggered email marketing messages made up 3.8% of the total volume of email sent in Q2 2014, which represented a 9.2% increase from the comparable time frame in 2013. This is according to a new study from Epsilon and Email Institute. The Q2 2014 North America Email Trends and Benchmarks report also revealed that triggered open rates rose from 72.6% in 2013 to 74.9% in Q2 2014. In addition, triggered click rates rose from 152.3% in Q2 2013 to 161.9% in the comparable quarter in 2014.
  • Checking Work Email After Hours is Bad For Your Health, Says New Research
    Scientists in Germany have revealed new research that asserts that checking work emails after hours can have a negative effect on one's health. The research examined the work email patterns of 57,000 Germans and round that more than half of them used work email after hours. This behavior had a correlation to an increase in insomnia, headaches, fatigue, anxiety and stomach problems.
  • Agari Raises $15M to Fight Phishing Attacks
    Digital security firm Agari has raised $15 million to help build out a tool that would make email more secure and less susceptible to phishing scams and attacks. The company is using data from more than two billion email accounts to identify abuse and to flag and stop communications from problem accounts. On average, the tool has identified and blocked more than 200 suspicious emails a month and has identified more than two million problem URLs.

    AirportParkingReservations.com has received a strong backlash on Twitter after sending out an email marketing message that many said was over the line. The email told the story of how a 55-year-old man died in a parking lot at Chicago O'Hare International Airport last week blaming his passing on the stress of travel. The email went on to promote how the company's parking services help alleviate the stress of travel with copy that read, "Don't be late and end up in a crate."
  • Home Depot Emails Customers About Data Breach
    After experiencing a major data breach a couple of weeks back, Home Depot has finally begun sending out emails to warn customers about the security threat. The email confirms the news and offers customers a year of free identity protection services and credit monitoring services. The emails began going out on Friday, but are being sent in phases and will continue to be dispatched.
  • BT.com Warns About Phishing Email
    British telecom BT.con has warned customers about an email scam in circulation purporting to be from the company. The email instructs the recipient that that his or her request to terminate their BT account is being processed. The email gives recipients 3 days to take further action on the company's site and includes malicious links designed to collect personal information.
  • Startup Bounce.io Aims to Solve the Email Bounce Problem
    Denver-based startup Bounce.io has recently raised $4.8 million to help improve the issue of bounced emails, an issue that affects about 10-20 of all emails sent. The company is trying to rebuild how emails are bounced in order to improve delivery rates. Investors include Foundry Group, SK Ventures, and Bullet Time.
