BuzzFeed has obtained an email which shows how a senior lobbyist at Google pushed the FTC to release a public statement that would help the Silicon Valley giant deal with bad press. The email was sent after a Wall Street Journal article from 2012 that said that staff at the FTC's bureau of competition recommended antitrust charges against Google.

Almost 80 percent of people can't spot a phishing email, according to a new survey conducted by Intel Security and CBS News. The researchers sent phishing emails and legitimate emails to 19,458 people. Each person was sent 10 emails from Intel Security's research arm McAfee Labs and 80 percent of those participating were duped into thinking that at least one phishing email was legitimate.

Litmus user Dan Foody has uncovered a quirk in how the Apple Watch processes email content. He found that the Apple Watch only displays plain text email messages and ignores any HTML to help deliver messages more quickly. The way it works is that email content is translated from HTML to rich text by the user's iPhone before being sent to the iWatch.

Fans of Mike Huckabee that joined his email list during his tenure at Fox News, are now on his campaign email list. Huckabee used the show to encourage people to visit his site and in doing so, visitors were encouraged to sign up for the list. The list has more than one million names on it. Huckabee recently sent out a campaign push to the list. It is not clear if the list was rented or if he donated it to his campaign.

Online scammers have been using Airbnb to trick consumers into sending them money. In a recent scam, a consumer that booked a flat in Barcelona using the service was asked to share their email address. Once the conversation left the Airbnb portal, the scammers asked the user to transfer money to an Airbnb holding account to secure the reservation. Despite being removed and complaints, the listing managed to pop back up several times.

After a train derailment outside of Philadelphia on Tuesday night, Amtrak sent out an email to customers asking them to ignore a customer survey email that had gone out. The email read: "We recently asked you to participate in a survey on Amtrak. In light of a Northeast Regional accident which occurred near Philadelphia on Tuesday night, we no longer ask that you participate in the survey."
