• Chris Christie Had Two Private Email Accounts While Governor
    New Jersey governor Chris Christie has been quick to criticize presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for using a personal email server while in office, yet he himself may have done official business using two personal email accounts. While Christie, contends that he has a personal email address but never used it for official business, International Business Times filed open records requests for emails between state agencies and both a Yahoo address (christopherchristie1@yahoo.com) and an AOL account (hen84@aol.com) and the agencies confirmed that both email addresses belonged to the governor, but would not release the emails due to executive privilege.

    Record label Diagonal has used an email rant to help promote its new dance single. Essentially the label head who has an electronic project called Powell wanted to use a vocal sample of artist Steve Albini from the time he was in the band Big Black. Albini gave him permission, but also explained how much he hates dance music in the email. Powell got Albini's permission to use the email and printed it as a billboard in London.

The company has created an email program that integrates social and other customer touchpoints. Consumers are driven to a landing page to sign up for the email newsletter and then immediately receive a welcome message introducing subscribers to the brand.

    Girls in Tech, a non-profit firm aimed at supporting women that work in tech, has let go of a male employee after he sent a misogynist email to a prospective sponsor. The email was then shared on Twitter. The former Director of Corporate Sponsorships John DeMartini wrote the rude email to MindJet CMO Amy Millard after she declined to sponsor one of the organization's upcoming events.
  • LinkedIn Settles Class-Action Email Suit
    LinkedIn has settled a class-action suit over the social network's sending behavior. The company was sued for its Add Connections feature, which would sent out requests to people in a user's contact list who did not already have a LinkedIn account. LinkedIn then sent reminder emails to people who did not sign up. The company has denied that they did anything wrong but has agreed to pay $13 million into a fund to pay out to eligible users.
  • Apple Believes in Privacy, Doesn't Want to Find Keywords in Emails
    Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple is not interested in accessing private user data and that the company considers privacy a fundamental human right. In an interview with NPR, Cook said that Apple will comply with government requests but are on the side of privacy. "But what they don't want to do, they don't want your email to be read, and then to pick up on keywords in your email and then to use that information to then market you things on a different application that you're using," he said of Apple's policy towards reading user email.
  • Edward Snowden's Inbox is Overflowing With Twitter Email Notifications
    Edward Snowden signed up for Twitter this week and forgot to turn off the email alert for every direct message he received. The whistleblower revealed that in about 27 hours he received more than 47GB of email alerts. Snowden counts more than a million followers and has been retweeted about 120,000 times.
