Millions of consumer email addresses have been stolen from companies and then sold on the dark web, a new website wants to help consumers know if they have been exposed. Recent data breaches at firms including: Tesco, Adobe, Ashley Madison, VTech, Adult Friend Finder, Sony and Minecraft Pocket have created the demand for such a site. The new website, https://haveibeenpwned.com, helps consumers identify if their data has been leaked and if they are vulnerable to spam attacks.

Fifty-five percent of emails sent on Black Friday were opened on a mobile device, according to Yesmail. This is up 18 percent over the same period of time last year. The research also revealed that Yesmail's enterprise clients sent 31 percent more emails on Black Friday and 87 percent more on Cyber Monday this year.
Komando
Spammers pretending to be Amazon are sending out emails telling recipients that their accounts have been suspended. Tech blog The Kim Komando Show received one of these emails and pointed out its strangeness. First of all the email was addressed to the site's careers@komando.com email address, a team that normally doesn't manage Amazon Web service. Like other spam emails, the message contains spelling errors.

Email retargeting firm LiveIntent has acquired data Copenhagen-based onboarding services firm Mojn in a deal whose terms were not disclosed. All of Mojn's 12 employees will join the LiveIntent team. This is the company's second European acquisition in recent history. LiveIntent recently acquired European recommendation engine AVARI.
Internet Retailer
Email marketing firm Bluecore has raised $21 million in Series B financing. The company will use the funding to improve its products and create more. The firm users behavioral data to automatically generate email messages. Georgian Partners led the round, with participation from previous investors including FirstMark Capital and Felicis Ventures.

UK football club Wanderers has been spoofed as part of a spam email campaign. The emails ask for recipients to share a GBP10 contribution to the team to help the outfit sign "various international stars." The email asks the fans to share the money via PayPal to help fund a takeover bid for the club.

Google has begun to redirecting Gmail users to its Inbox service on mobile devices. The popup message, "Thanks for trying Inbox! To make it easier we've updated Gmail to redirect you here," encourages users to try the new app. At this point it is simply an option, but Twitter users are debating if this is a sign that Gmail's days are limited.

The Securities and Exchange Commission opposes the Email Privacy Act, a law which would update the 1986 legislation which currently determines how email privacy is regulated. The outdated law allows law enforcement and government agencies to read old emails of people under investigation without a warrant. The new legislation would require a warrant to read messages older than 180 days. The SEC is concerned that their investigations would be hindered since they expect less requests to be approved under the new law.
Music Week
International Talent Booking (ITB) is warning music promoters and fans about a fake email in circulation hoping to gain opens by featuring rock bands Aerosmith and Pearl Jam. The email claims to come from the representatives of the two bands and promotes a new tour. "They have stolen our logo and address from the internet and are posing as ITB to scam money off unsuspecting promoters, going to the extent of sending fake riders and contracts and attempting to collect deposits," said ITB in a statement.
