The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hackers used clone sites for break in, according to a new report from cybersecurity firms Threat Connect and Fidelis. The researchers found that the email address used to register a fake website used in the attack was also used to register three domains created by a Russian state hacking group.

Social media firm SnapChat and data storage firm Seagate Technology have both been victims of CEO spam, a kind of fraud in which employees are duped into thinking they are getting an email from their boss. In both cases accounting employees received a request to send W-2 information to the sender, and in doing so they exposed personal information.

Only about one third of consumers on a retailer's email list made a purchase from the retailer from February 2016 to April 2016, according to research from email marketing firm Listrak. Most of these consumers only made one purchase from the retailer. Among the 35 percent of the people that had made purchases, only 15 percent made multiple purchases.

Melissa Levine, a Los Angeles-based television researcher, has filed a class-action lawsuit against Glassdoor after the company exposed that she was looking for a job in a mass email. the company sent out a terms of service update last week and instead of bccing users, cced everyone on the list. Levine claims that the site violated state privacy laws by including her email address in the CC field.

The Indian government is advocating for consumer email providers including Google and Microsoft to offer email services in a number of local languages beginning with Hindi. The government met with service providers last month and asked for them to offer services that would enable users to sign up for email addresses in their local languages throughout the country. While the country has 22 official languages, experts estimate that more than 150 different languages are spoken around the country.

Authorities are investigating if pop singer Beyonce's fans are behind an email hack of her former friend Rachel Roy's account. The attack came about after Internet speculation about song lyrics that suggest that the two friends are now foes. Roy's Gmail and iCloud accounts were both broken into.

Apple's App Store is now selling a gaming app that makes fun of Hillary Clinton's email scandal. The application had previously been rejected by the Apple store on several occasions for being too offensive. The game is called Capitol HillAwry and requires players "to collect as much money through email donations as possible while maintaining a decent approval rating in the polls."

Microsoft's SwiftKey app, a tool that uses AI to predict the user's next word when writing text, has suspended part of its service after users reported receiving predictions that were intended for other users. Several users complained when the app sent them suggestions containing the email addresses and phone numbers siphoned from other user's accounts.
